The War on Terror

The War on Terror was launched in October, 2001 in response to the September 11th terrorist attacks. The mission of the war is to eliminate international terrorism. The President proclaimed that our mission was accomplished in October 2003. However we are still currently actively engaged in war and our troops continue to die every day. Finding and detaining Osama Bin Laden was one of the war’s objectives, though he has not yet been found. The war has reached into Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Lebanon, Turkey, Somalia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Over 3,000 American Soldiers have been killed serving in the war in Iraq alone. Many project the war to last for many years to come, and to spread into Iran, North Korea, and various other countries.
